Joe Goldberg works in a bookshop in Brooklyn and his whole world changes when Beck walks through the door. He feels an instant connection to her and when she responds to his playful banter he knows she’s the one.

I loved this book; however it does have some very intense themes which may make some readers uncomfortable, mainly involving stalking and sex. If that’s something you’re comfortable reading about then I highly recommend you read this book. It’s one of those ones that you just don’t want to put down because you need to know what happens next.

Joes immediate obsession with Beck really drives the story and with his inner monologue acting as the narrator it gives you a unique position to view his outlook on the world. He truly sees himself as the hero of his story, and the one who can save Beck from the scumbag she is currently dating Benji. He knows she deserves better and he wants to be the one to give it to her. Unfortunately Joe is trying to mould Beck to be the person he believes she is capable of being, his perfect woman, but that never goes to plan. Watching him slowly slip deeper and deeper into paranoia and longing is a surreal experience which paired with his incredible intellect means you never know what twist is around the corner.

Some of you may have seen the series of this on Netflix however as always I recommend you read the book, as the storyline takes some different turns which I wish they had played out in the TV adaptation but you’ll just have to read it to find out!
