Darkborn Messiah by Tyler Nomax

The concept of this book really intrigued me and felt a bit different to the usual narrative of the main character going on some kind of journey to meet the end goal of the story. William seems like quite a normal, likable man and I feel the author did a really good job of portraying depression and the mental health issues we see William struggling with especially a the beginning of the book.

Once the "Demon" Milena was introduced the story really starts to heat up and the journey she takes him on through his alternate lives is a really difficult but very necessary one. The Utopian society she wishes to create can't be done without William going through this struggle and it's nice to see a character start to reject that path at the start before coming to terms with their true purpose.

My favourite part of this revelation is at the end of Chapter 4 when William realises it is his Ego talking when he's asking why he has to be the one to bring about this change in the world.

"I must be better than this. I must not give in to my selfish desires. This is the main cause of the hell world we live in..."

Williams acceptance and development throughout the book shows the better people we can all strive to be and reading his story was both thought provoking and enjoyable.
